Seeing 2012 close makes me realize that the Teal Tea Foundation has been operational four years. When we started in 2008, I often wondered if we’d succeed. In a recent conversation, Dr. Darlene Gibbon, from the Cancer Institute of New Jersey in New Brunswick and one of our newest Advisory Board members, told me that she clearly sees the growth and accomplishments of the Foundation since 2008. I may not see the steps we’ve taken, the growth and the impact, but she said we’ve made tremendous strides and that our organization is recognized statewide. That was a revelation to me. It not only makes me very proud of our accomplishments, but it also says, “Look at all the women we’ve reached.” We can’t put a value or price on the number of lives that we have touched and sometimes, we don’t even know how we’ve made a difference. But survivor Shari Widmayer and I often say to each other, ”If we’ve saved just one life, if we’ve reached just one woman and helped her with early detection, then the Foundation has made a difference.” I think we’ve done much more than that and I thank everyone for your participation, commitment, support and for making a difference, one cup of tea at a time!
